Does my husband really deserve another chance?

NO! NO! Please don't give this man another chance. He condescends and uses you with charming lines like "you're too smart". You say it right at the end - to make up for his horrible nature he is charming and manipulative. Don't let yourself keep falling down this cycle of continual forgiveness for all of the horrible things he's done. He emotionally abuses you and your children and physically abuses your dog. You deserve a much better life than this.
