MS Word, XP edition, how do I type a strikethrough?

I want to show what an author wrote on a piece of paper. The author wrote a word, then put a line through it, then wrote in another word. It's important for me to show what the original word was, and the change. I can't seem to find a way in Microsoft Word to put a line through a word, only underlining and highlighting. Is there a special character for this? Is there a way to do this? Thanks!
