Spiritually wondering, why is it OK in our culture for an artist to use drugs but not an athlete?

Athletes tend to use steroid drugs as a means of performance enhancement. For a musical artist, taking steroids does not give them the ability to write more popular songs. I don't know that our culture says it's okay for an artist to use drugs, but I would say more accepted.
